Carrots

We are Canada's premier manufacturer of frozen carrots. For over 30 years we have been growing and processing top quality frozen carrots for the North American Market.

Farm

At Oxford Frozen Foods, we farm carrots in all three Maritime provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island). We grow on our own farms and with contract growers.

Our carrots are planted from April to June each year. Carrots are only grown every 3 to 5 years on a given field to increase quality. As part of our active research program, we are constantly evaluating varieties for yield an quality. We plant specific varieties for each cut of carrots.

Carrot FieldDuring the growing season the fields are monitored on a weekly basis for soil moisture level, crop health. We grow the carrots using a sustainable carrot farming program which we update each year; key components of the program irrigation scheduling and nutrient management planning. All farming activities are undertaken to grow the crop in as sustainable a manner as possible.

HarvetingCarrots are harvested with top-lifting harvesters and delivered to the factories direct from the fields. Carrots are harvested from early August into November each year.
